Opera Bastille
I much prefer the classic beauty of the Opera Garnier to the cold impersonal ambiance of the Opera Bastille. Still, our visit to the Opera Bastille for a performance of Johan Strauss “Die Fledermaus” was pleasant.
Champagne, France
Thanks to its close proximity to Paris, it is easy and pleasant to discover Champagne. We preferred to be carefree to enjoy some of the lovely bubbly. Visitors who would like to do the same can take the train or hire a tourist service for a day visit. Prices to visit the Champagne house cellars are inexpensive and usually include a tasting at the end as well as the opportunity to purchase your own bottles to take home.
Thoumieux
This fifteen room boutique hotel in the desirable seventh arrondisement of Paris was a rare find. In a touristy city with limited worthwhile small hotel options this new property stood out for its location, quiet small rooms with elegant upscale furnishings and amenities, and two dining venues onsite.
