The American Heritage Dictionary defines a gourmet as " a connoisseur of fine food and wine" . Whether visiting a destination for business or pleasure, finding a real gourmet restaurant makes any trip worthwhile. While particular emphasis is placed upon quality food and wine, the decor and service contribute to the total experience.

In many ways, Paris is the home of the best luxury travel restaurants.. The French love great food and their great chefs are revered as celebrities. The city of Paris attracts the best and brightest of these because the finest ingredients and the best clientele can be found within its busy streets. Often when a fine restaurant is found elsewhere in the world, its chef will have trained in Paris or perhaps Southern France.

On the other hand, it is quite possible to spend large sums of money for poor service, unpleasant food and overpriced wine, especially when visiting an unfamiliar city. Our reviewers visit these restaurants and try their food first hand. We cannot guarantee that everyone will have the same experience, but we try to report what we liked and what we found distasteful in these gourmet restaurants.
