Tourism for Tomorrow

Miami

Miami - Florida

The Mandarin Miami Hotel

Overall: Miami conjures up images of warm nights, palm trees, dancing on the beach and Art Deco buildings. Once you get past the bad crime rap and discover the many attractions Miami-Dade offers including its varied communities, wonderful assortment of restaurants from every corner of Latin America to Asian fusion and continental. For a city vacation in the sun, no other city in the U.S. offers such variety, sounds and cultural diversity.

By day, you can visit white sand beaches, fish in the bay, take a charter boat out for bigger game fish, or just hang out with the beautiful people down on South Beach. By night, the parties run late, and dance clubs abound. Gateway to the Florida Keys, you can take scuba lessons, go sailboarding or just lounge on the beach and soak up the sun.

Cost of visiting: Reasonable

Challenges:High crime rates in a large city with a racially charged history keep some visitors away. Traffic is the other obstacle for visitors.

Advantages: A city where students speak 148 different languages in the public school system has to be attractive to the visitor. From Little Havana to Little Haiti, from Miami Beach to South Miami, Miami-Dade County is a fun place to discover. It is fast becoming a modern and Latin American art center.

Shopping: Art and ethnic products stand out as things to shop for in Miami.
